Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

Brief Intro
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is locatedGuangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the border of the northern Renhe Town, Baiyun District, and the eastern Xinhua Town, Huadu District. It is about 28 kilometers (17.4 miles) from the airport to downtown Guangzhou. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is one of the three largest air hubs in China. Opened to the public in 2004, it occupies an area of 15 square kilometers (about 5.8 square miles). It has a 4E standard flight area, two runways and a terminal of 320 thousands square meters (about 79 acres). Serving more than 110 air routes from Guangzhou to over 100 domestic and international cities, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has an average annual passenger flow volume of about 25 million. The domestic flights go to Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Kunming, Chongqing, Haikou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guiyang, Ningbo and Lianyungang, etc. The direct international flights are to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Osaka, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Tokyo, Jakarta, Taipei, Hong Kong, Sydney, Amsterdam, Frankfort and Paris, Los Angeles, etc.

Airport Transportation
Baiyun Airport boasts very convenient ground transportation system. This system is mainly made up of airport shuttle bus, airport intercity bus and taxi. Additionally, the aiport subway line is under construction.  By the end of 2009, it will have been used.

Citizens in Guangdong can dial 960166, a service hotline provided by fixed telephones, Xiaolingtong and mobile phone (China Unicom), which is available for asking directions within the province.

Airport shuttle
It is convenient to go from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to the downtown of Guangzhou by Airport Shuttle Bus (Airport Express). The buses are comfortable and punctual. There are nine bus lines to shuttle between the airport and the downtown of Guangzhou, including Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Among those, Line 6 includes Lines 6A, 6B and 6C. Hereunder is the information of the airport shuttle bus lines for your reference:

Terminal Building Guide

 The departure lobby of Terminal 1
With an area of about 370 thousand square meters (about 914 acres), the Terminal Building of the Baiyun Airport is four-storied, formed by the Main Building, Connection Building, terminal concourses and elevated passages. The third floor is the Departures Hall; the second floor is the Arrivals Interlayer; the first floor is the Arrivals Hall; and the minus-one floor leads to the subway station and the parking lot. The Departure Hall on the third floor has eight entrances/ exits. Taxis and Airport Shuttle Bus can stop on the doorway of the Departure Hall. Entering the No. 4 Gate of the Departure Hall, you can see a big electronic screen, on which you can see the flight information.

  • Domestic Departures Hall
    There are 6 check-in islands and 144 check-in counters in the Domestic Departures Hall. The services relate to ticket inquiry on international or domestic flights, reservation, ticket issuing, changes of ticket and seat-reconfirmation for return flight, designated assistance on check-in, as well as reception of irregular flights, etc.
    Islands C, D and M are provided for China Southern Airlines (CZ), Xiamen Airlines (MF) and China Eastern Airlines (MU).
    Islands E, K and L handle the check-in procedures for Air China (CA), Hainan Airlines (HU), Shandong Airlines (SC), Sichuan Airlines (3U), Shenzhen Airlines (ZH) and some flights of China Eastern Airlines (MU).
    Island N is used as the ticket counter and service counter for different airlines, including China Southern, Air China, China Eastern, Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Shandong Airlines and Shanghai Airlines (FM).
  • International Departures Hall
    There are 4 check-in islands and 102 check-in counters in the International Departures Hall.
    Islands G and H handle the check-in procedures for China Southern Airlines. It includes the fights of China southern Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Japanese Airlines, Thai Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Korea Airlines, Kennya Airlines.
    Islands F and J handle the check-in procedures for Russia Far-east, Batavia, Ethiopian Airlines, Garuda, Air France, Lufthansa, Air Phillipine, Tiger, Orient-Thai, Northwest, Lufthansa Cargo, All Nippon, Air France Cargo, Finnair, Hongkong Express, Air Macao, UPS.
  • Domestic Boarding Area
    The Domestic Boarding Area is made up of two areas – A and B. The Area A, located in the east of the Terminal Building, is divided into two concourses – East 1 Concourse (for the international flights) and East 2 Concourse (for domestic flights). There are 16 boarding gates from A1 to A16 in East 1 Concourse; there are 15 boarding gates from A17 to A31 in East 2 Concourse. The passengers who check in at the Islands E, K and L should board the plane through the Area A.

The Area B, situated in the west of the Terminal Building, is made up of West 1 and West 2 concourses. There are 17 boarding gates from B101 to B117 in West 1 Concourse and there are 13 boarding gates from B118 to B131 in West 2 Concourse. Passengers go through the check-in procedures at Islands C, D and M should board through the Area B.

  • International Boarding Area
    All international flight passengers board though the East 1 Concourse of Area A.

Facilities & Services

Facilities:

Business Centers: They offer long distance phone calls, photo copying and fax services They can be found by the No.3 Gate on the first floor and inside the Departure Areas A and B on the third floor of the Terminal Building.

Parking Lots: there are two parking lots at the airport. One is outdoors and one is a parking station. There is a fee of CNY8 for the first hour for small vehicles and CNY12 for large vehicles, with CNY5 and CNY10 respectively per additional hour. Taxis are charged CNY2 per vehicle.

Post Office: It’s located to the left of the No.9 Gate, Departure Hall, 3/F, main block, Terminal Building. The service hours is from 09:00 to 17:00.

Banks: At present, there are two banks in the Terminal Building, including Agricultural Bank of China and Guangdong Development Bank. Both are equipped with ATMs.
Agricultural Bank of China: in the F and G zones, southeast corner of the third floor of the Terminal Building.
Guangdong Development Bank: by the side of N Island of the Terminal Building.

Foreign Currency Exchange: Passengers can exchange foreign currencies in the International Arrival Hall. The foreign currencies include dollars, euros, yens, Hong Kong dollars and so on. Service hours: 08:00 – 21:00.

Medical Room: near the No.25 Gate on the first floor of the terminal building.

Water Dispenser: There are eleven water dispensers in the Terminal Building with the service of 24 hours.

In addition, there are rooms for mothers and infants, as well as smoking rooms at the A and B departure areas on the third floor. There are shops and restaurants in the domestic lounge on the first floor.

Airport Enquiries: there are four enquiries desks: opposite the F Island and D Island, and near the No.15 and No.11 gates on the third floor. Tel: 020 – 86137273

Luggage Checking: The luggage with the weight of more than 50 kg and the size of over 50*75*90 cm will be checked. Please report to the luggage check counters by the side of No.1, 9 and 16 gates of the Departure Hall on the third floor of the main block of the Terminal Building.

Left Luggage: The service counters are on the first and the third floors. They offer a left luggage service from 06:00 to 22:00. Tel: 020-36066859

Lost & Found: Please refer to the counter near the No.1 Gate in the Departure Hall on the third floor of the Terminal Building. Tel: 020 – 36066946
Ticket Center: the domestic ticket counter is located near the No.3, 11 and 14 gates on the third floor, while the international ticket counter is near the No.5 and No.6 gates on the third floor.

Internet: The Baiyun Airport provides wireless Internet access service. As long as you have a laptop and a Wireless LAN Card, you can surf the net freely.

Dining: The Jinlong Food Street is located by the Gates 17 and 18 of the Departure Hall. The food there is tasty but not expensive. Also many cafes can be seen there.
Shopping: There are many shops in the Terminal Building. The articles include leathers, cosmetics, fruits, clothes, toys, books, cigarettes, wines, jewelries and some local products.
